Well, by the looks of it, this car is gonna be runnable by late summer/early fall. I might as well worry about something now, to keep me busy. How good is the gas mileage in these MGB's?

Not too shabby. Dad's '71 seems to go on forever on a tank of gas. Granted, it's not a daily driver, but sometimes the car is limited to aorund town errand runs and longer drives at the weekends. I'd estimate that the mileage is about the same as a Miata, say around 30 mpg depending on how its driven. Maybe higher. I wouldn't trust the gas gauge much (ours died eventually), and instead just track how many miles you've driven since you last filled up, then fill again.

It all depends on how you drive it, but even with hard drivine with a stock motor, you will get more than 20mpg.
You would have to drive like a real nancy to get 30 mpg though.

I've found that my tuned 1500 midget gets 25+ under hard driving in the summer ... much less in the winter. I was really amazed. I'll need to confirm that, but that was what I got when I first drove the car

I have a 74 also, and I have found over the last two-three years I am averaging, 20-25 miles per gal. I live in a hilly area of B.C. and use it as a daily driver all summer.

I get 21 around town not babying it and 28 on the road. Mine is a '72 with the pollution stuff removed by the PO.
