mpg "curve"

Re: mpg "curve"

Scangauge!

I never realized the OBD on later cars actually carried data to allow real-time mpg calculation. I had always thought an OBD reader just gave you the codes stored by a few sensors.

doh!

To most of you guys, this stuff is obvious, but this old 1830s farmer never knew so much was available on a readout until PC's post above. Thank you!

ScanGauge order is in the mail. (well, actually it's been paypal'd).

Thanks all.

Except for the wedgie crowd and perhaps spits, I would think that most TR's have LOTS of frontal comperssion!!! :yesnod:
Hey Doesn't Doc have that?

Only if th' floor comes up an' smacks me onna forehead.

OBD-II. feh.

ScanGauge is a great tool, and cheap considering what something like that cost just a decade ago.

Re: mpg "curve"

I need a pre OBD-I scanner - hehehehe

Re: mpg "curve"

I got one of them... it's called my butt.

Re: mpg "curve"

... and a long screwdriver.

Re: mpg "curve"

Drive my 87 Coachmen M.H. the only preformance curv you need to worry about is.
Do you have enough fuel to reach the next gas stop
Do you have enough $ to fill er up?
All that aside, 55 M.P.H. seems to be the best economy {M.P.G.} after all it was built when the national speed limit was supposed to be 55 M.P.H. any faster than that, it`s anyone guess as to how far you can go on the fuel onboard
We`re talking massive "frontal Compression" Not to mention the 6 tons of mass.
Your driving habits have as much to do with economy as anything else does, eg. how hard do you tend to accelerate has a bearing on what your M.P.G. will be. Are you, what I call a "Pumper" do you pump the gas pedal while driving? {My mom did this} nearly drove me crazy to ride with her, not good for gas mileage! Not to mention wear and tear on vehicle components.
You could figure optimum preformance curv for any car, IF, it was driven by a machine in constant non varying conditions such as acceleration and other driving habits and conditions such as wind or resistance {Frontal compression"} . Other than that there are just wayyyyy too many variables to get any kind of reliable data.
Just thinking out loud!
