MP3 player help

I'll preface this by saying if it is electronic, I'm an idiot. I can't even program a VCR.

I have an mp3 player. I bought a new one for the radio install on the '66. A Sansa e250.

I can't upload my music to it (says unsupported format or something) although I uploaded the same music to my other mp3 player (Creative Zen Neeon)

HELP!

ALSO... is there a way to just transfer the stuff from my old player to my new player, machine to machine?

I'm not a lot of help, either, but as far as I know, if a CD has been created in MP3 format, it "should" be able to be played on any MP3 player. At least, the few that have been given to me are that way. Maybe some 12-year-old on the Forum will be more help here! /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif

Oh, and Happy Birthday to you, too!

Thanks Mickey.

I should have sent an APB out to all teenagers here!

I'd be surprised if this is the case, but maybe the mp3 file bitrates aren't supported by the player. Some players will play anything, some are picky. Check the player's documentation and see if it only plays certain bitrate files.

If you don't know the format of your files, try playing them in media player, go to file (or right click in the upper-right corner), then click on properties. The bitrate should be in the middle of the properties window.

There's a program called Sansa Media Converter that comes with the player. I would think that program could convert whatever files you have to ones that are compatible with the player.

You might find more information on the sansa/sandisk forum here.

I doubt it. The software and player manufacturers are already introducing ways to prevent file sharing because of the pressure from the music industry.

They're MP3s. I don't see bitrates anywhere.

~argh~

Scott, just come over... I'll make lunch...

Happy Birdie!

Just how many of us were birthed in early August?!?

This is gettin' sorta weird. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smirk.gif

Me you and Basil. Cripes that's frightening...

I'm using the computer, duh. XP.
/bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif

And whatever software came with the player.

I don't have ANY idea what I did or how I did it, but I have a bunch of songs on it now. I have no idea HOW to delete the ones I don't want (like George Strait & Alan Jackson...) But there is music.

Weird.

Happy Birthday Janel, that was a quick year wow.

When is the next project? I miss all the fun.

Along with bit rate {96,128,256 ETC.} there is also layer single, double, triple, ETC.
Let me ask you this:
Is it a C.D. .mp3 player or does it have a hard drive device?
{physical hard drive or a sims card of some sort}
There are several different .mp3 encoders. Your particular player may use only one of these encoders there fore you will have to use the software that came with the player to convert the encoding method on any .mp3`s that you upload from your computer to the device.
MOST {Not all} .mp3 players will play almost all of the encoding methods, However there are a couple of encoders out there that will only play in certain players. Totaly confused now? {I was} The best thing to do is read ALL of the documentation that came with your player. It should tell you how to encode and upload the PROPER encoded .mp3`s for that particular player. Some players will even allow you to keep .mp3`s in folders {In other words you could put all of one artist in one folder and another in a seperate folder. Other players do not have this capability and the .mp3`s must be all exposed on the drive device IE. cd rom, sims card, or physical hard drive.
In any case I would bet my last dollar your problem lies within the encoding method used to "Crunch" the files.
But rate has to do with the quality of the music and the size of the file and should not have an affect weather it will play on any particular player or not.
P.S. I have over 30,000 .mp3`s and my player is an in dash cd rom style player. It can play from individual folders as well as exposed files and will play any bitrate. However I have encountered one or two encoding methods that it will not read.
BTW one cd rom will hold { depending on the files size} well over 225 and up to up to 275 tunes. I commonly rip my .mp3`s at 128 bit rate {small enough file size and good enough quality for listening to in the car/truck.
I have the most popular encoder software for "Ripping" from .wma, .cd, 0r .wav files. P.M. or email me And I will discuss the subject matter further if you wish.

As far as deleting an unwanted file, if it is "Burnt" to cd NO CIGAR! If it is on a sims card or physical hard drive and you have a sims card reader for your pc, or can read the sims card or physical hard drive of the player with your P.C. {Like a digital cam sims card can be read with the P.C.} you can delete the file from there.

I don`t know of any way to Xfer .mp3`s from one player to the other. other than if both players use the same type sims or physical H.D. All my .mp3 players use cd rom, other than my P.C. It has a removable physical hard drive I store my music on. I burn from there to cd and can play the cd in any .mp3 player I have.

Sorry about the .mp3 mumbo jumbo {it took me a very long time to learn and sort the .mp3 file, encoding, ripping and bitrate stuff all out} I realise NOT EVERYONE wants to have such trivial stuff in thier memory banks {brain}.
