Pulled the motor on the TR3 on Sat and with my uncle's help took it apart on Monday.
It looks worse than I thought when I got the car and I thought it was bad then (sat out for 25yrs without a valve cover and no oil)! The machine shop and my uncle (40yr mechanic) say it can be rebuilt. I'll know more after the weekend. Wish me luck. They don't grow TR3a motors on trees and if they did, they would be a pain to pick as they are heavy lumps :wink:

The crank has been ground down from std to .020. It will need a new cam shaft as it has some broken teeth. He has 7 sitting on the shelf that he can use. But the worst part and unexpected it will need a new cylinder head! Many cracks near and around the valve guides on the top of the head (the bottom looks fine). Anyone have one laying around. Pictures later, I think I need a
