Doug, I've been at that Shilo.
Didn't think much either.

Though...there was a good breakfast place next to it

Crowne Plaza Hotel, Trevose, PA - Avoid

Station Inn, Cresson, PA - Railfan-centric, Best breakfast ever, nice!

When on the move most places I stay are for the most part unremarkable, cheapest decent place that takes dogs.
Check in, eat, sleep, have a waffle and go.

A couple destination cities stand out:

NYC, Hotel Casablanca. Small boutique hotel, Times Square and theaters right around the corner, quiet, very cool, tile and marble in rooms, guy in white jacket plays piano for evening wine and cheese. Expensive. My wife found a great deal but would pay the price if I ever go back.

San Francisco, Chancellor Hotel. By Union Square. Not so fancy but just fine. From airport we rode Bart and then walked 3 or 4 blocks to get there. (we travel lite)
Got coffee every morning and stepped out the door to ride cable cars before the rest of the tourists got up and waited in line. Affordable for the city.

Wishek ND
The Wishek Inn. $35/ night.
for an extra 10 or 15 you get the honeymoon suite. Comes complete with a bottle of Cold Duck.
Stayed there a couple of times.
The gang always got the suite too as it was 2 rooms and a place to gather.

Cliff Park Inn / Milford PA. Nice older place but not cheap..

BriMarie Inn / Sayre PA. Gorgeous restoration.

Garden Cottage Motel / Wellsboro PA. Avoid. Hot water in tub had a vise grip wrench for a handle.

Lakeview on the Lake Motel / Erie PA. Great little vintage cottages with idyllic setting on Lake Erie.

Caboose Motel / Titusville PA. Worth the stay just for fun.

Hill's Motor Court / Alexandria Bay, NY. Get one of the cottages with a dock, even if you don't have a boat. Cabin 9 may be the best. It has changed ownership since we were there.

Nativo Lodge / Albuquerque, NM. Easy access, nice, and reasonable.

I'm curious if this list gets to 200 entries.:wink-new:

Sorry I cannot help, we're B&B folk.

B&B's are out for us as I and we have always traveled with a dog. Mury is a year and a half with close to 10,000 miles under his collar.

As Mom and Pop lake resorts have all but disappeared and for places to stay put we have had good experiences with https://www.vrbo.com.

weuse VBO a lot when we travel to resort areas
