Motel breakfasts

I might just start a stay/DON'T stay moel post after this.
Don, I think that you have a little more money than the rest
of us - MOST of us could never afford to stay in the places
that you do.
Most of us stay at motels that we pay for - not on an
expense account. When my Wife went to Napa,CA,on business,
we stayed at a place that I wouldn't ever think about staying
at,if it were our own money.

Same experience here except for the Fairfield Executive Inn it Fairfield N.J. where I used to stay when taking classes at Toyota's regional H.Q.
That place had a nice Italian restaurant and bakery attached, and breakfast was fantastic!!! All fresh pastries, and the staff ran an omelet bar.

The "standardization" I found also applied to the housekeeping services. In every single place I stayed, the pillows were arranged the same way on the beds: angled diagonally across the top. Towels were all "fan folded" in pockets. Even the beds were now covered with duvets. And each bed had a card on it: "For your safety and comfort, duvet covers are laundered fresh for each guest."

Glad my duvet is clean!

Geez Doug ,you flatter me.
I would not label any of the ones I mentioned as hi dollar Inns.
In fact I would say they are 3 star at best.
Also , almost all the places I stay come out of my pocket...ummm...my wife's pocket really.
When she travels alone she stays at nicer places company paid.
Well, maybe not always. She was just in N. Charleston for 4 days at a Holiday Inn Express.

The breakfast areas I'm familiar with are all the same, except for the shape of the waffles in Texas. I do wish there was a standardized arrangement of them though. It always takes me a while to find things that I know are there, but were in a different place at the last stop. Where is a Herbert Hoover when you need one?
