Moss Wheels / Panasport?

Would you send pictures? I'd like to see how well they fill out the wheel wells.

Thanks!

Dougie -

I warn you, I ran 205/65s on my BJ8 in college back in the late 80's and all I got for my trouble was a ripped out shock mount after about 30K miles and a string of worn out shocks. It couldn't handle the heavy duty cornering... Just something to watch out for.

Thanks for the insight. My front and rear shocks have been uprated and I run a 7/8" front sway bar. I must admit my wife has driven the BJ8 more than I have in the past years. I do most of my hard cornering in the '57 vintage racer.

Hi Dougie,
I think what Alan is referring to is the frame mounts for the shocks. Uprated shocks (read firmer) would add to the wider tire's affect on the shock mounts that were designed for skinny tires that gripped less than the more modern tires, like what I have on. In addition the lower control arm mounts might not be up to the task of these higher cornering forces. There are plans somewhere on the internet to beef the control arm mounts up by welding gussets on. I can't find it right now, thought it was the Nasty Boy site, but didn't see it there in the tech articles.

Thanks Greg,

I've done both to my '57, but not to the extent some rally folks do by adding another 20lbs. of iron to the car.

Funny thing though, the 205/65s were really super fun to drive with, but I still wouldn't do it again!
