Morris ISIS

I haven't seen any, but it is nifty. The chrome line looks like an old Ford, only smaller.
 
I think the Isis is rare anywhere in the world...

I'm not aware of any American sales when new, I do believe some (probably a small number) were sold in Canada. I also know that a friend in Ontario owned an Isis in fairly recent years, he sold it within Ontario, that one may be around still.
 
I'd be interested to know what 6 cylinder engine was used in that Isis, if in fact the Isis came from the factory with a 6 pot.

Morris was rather infamous for a lack of power, why a six in this one?
 
Actually between the years 1948 to 1960, Morris offered passenger cars with a 6-cylinder engine.

First was the Morris MS-series Six of 1948, as I understand it was a 6-cylinder version of the MO-series Oxford. Which was replaced by the Isis, effectively once again a 6-cylinder version of the then-current Oxford.

Neither of the two above cars sold well and the Isis was discontinued in 1958. And was the last 6-cylinder Morris built.

According to my "magic" book... The MS-series Six had a 2215cc engine ("ohc engine, fast and has a lovely engine, alas with valve problems"); The Isis had the BMC C-Type engine, 2639cc, ohv

I remember seeing quite a few Isis (Isises?) in the late 60s and early 70s in Victoria B.C., where I went to high school. Victoria had more English cars per capita than any other place in North America, and not just the normal TR/MG/Healey variety. Cambridges, Oxfords, Wolseleys, English Fords, were all common. My high school vice principal drove a Vanden Plas Princess. It was as common for university students to drive an Austin or Morris as it was to drive a Beetle! Unusual for the rest of Canada 'tho. Having said that, I haven't seen an Isis for 25 years. Nice to see a few of the old crocks around.
 
I had an Isis for my second car back in '87'.
Someone had fitted it with a 186 Holden motor connected to a five speed Celica box.was very quick.
 
ebay has removed it....they only built a little over 12,000 of them.

I think they still do have. We were there this summer & I saw more MG's in regular use than anywhere else - ever. I went to a VW show which was great but I'll bet I saw three VW's in regular use for every one at the show. A bumper sticker I saw said it all "slow down you're on the island"
 
You can't flip over a rock and not find a british car here on the island. Not an awful lot used daily, but they do come out in the summer.
 
I know I posted this on your New Member Intro, but I'll put it here as well, in case some missed it. This Isis was for sale near me in NJ for quite a while ($1850 USD), but it is gone now. The right-side shifter it had was *different*.
