Morning drive in - Got my smile back!

It's been months driving on shaky vibrating wheels, today was my first drive on the freeway after getting them fixed.
I noticed by the time I got here that I had been smiling the whole way in.
This is what it's supposed to feel like driving a Spridget!

:glee:

Well done, nothing like that smile!

And all because of a bolt/nut inside the tire. Make you wonder how that got there.....

Both were also out of balance 1.5 ounces.
That's enough alone to make for a bad ride even without the extra hardware bouncing around inside.

I can't believe how smooth it is now, it had bad tires when I replaced the bushings and shocks so next up was the tires.
The bad shaking and vibrations were there before and after the new tires so I figured something else was wrong but couldn't find the cause.
Now I know, never trust that the last people to work on your car did it right.

I owned a MGB for over 30 years before I figured out why I had a front end shake. Had the wheel off one day and noticed the front hub was machined off center. Checked the other and it was the same way! Appropriate weights to offset the hubs and problem was cured! I'm thinking the car was made on a friday or during labor problems [1972] and someone used reject hubs!

Kurt.

I had always had a vibration as well. different tires, etc, nothing fixed it. Never having driven another Sprite, I thought it was just a part of their existence, until I got new wheels (from Hap). The combination of wheels and tires took 1/4 ounce on one wheel. That is, three wheel and tire combinations took NO weights at all to balance! .. Vibration gone.... .. Sweet.

Hey Rick, I too had a great run the other day with my BE, seems like all the stars have lined up and the car is running great....actually better than it ever has.....and it brings a great big smile!
