Morgan Bonnet Strap

Anybody ever recondition the leather bonnet strap on a Morgan? Mine got wet and seems to have hardened so I've taken it off and want to clean and soften it up with some sort of conditioning cream or something.

I'll second Lexol as being good stuff. Mink oil also works well.
