more wire wheel?????

good morning all; -13 this morning -2 for the high today, so all i'll probably get done is look in shop and wish it was spring.my wire wheels need to be cleaned up and repainted,i thought about sand blasting them,is that the way to go and can you leave the tires on,i got a little overspray on them when i had her painted?

Yes, you can leave the tires on when you sandblast but I'd recommend taking them off...why?
...the tubes actually cause rust on the inside of the wheel due to condensation...&, you want to get sand all around the spokes to completely clean them...
..after sandblasting, I primer, then use a good quality silver paint & then clear coat the entire thing...inside & out...
...then, I put a layer of white silicone over the spokes on the inside of the wheel & a new 'rubber band' to protect the tube & reinstall the tires...

...keeps you from getting overspray on tires & ensures insides of wheels are clean
 
I'm under the impression that the sandblasting and repainting time is also a good opportunity to tighten spokes and get 'em trued up.
