My BJ8 puts me very close to the windshield. The seat is toching the side Panel in the rear. Have any of you figured out a trick to get a little more room for taller drivers. I have already drilled holes in the foam.

Jerry,
I got a little more room by tilting the seat back at an angle. I am 6' 2" and it helped. It was accomplished by using "extensions" as seen below:

Jerry -

I'm 6'1" and I installed spacers between the seat and the runners which were wedge shaped, going from one inch in the front to a wedged tip at the back, like a door stop. I made it out of some oak trim I got at Home Depot.

I really made a big difference and the upside is the seat is much more comfortable to sit in as well.

The only thing is I had to jimmy the front seat fixings a bit (I got a threaded extension nut and then used a bolt from the top rather than a nut).

Good Luck,

Alan

Did you guys twist the mounting so the back of the seat does not hit the rear side panel?

I'm 6'2" and have made a new seat swab out of foam covered in Vinyl. It just sits over the seat adjustment mechanism and is held in place by velcro which sticks to the carpet. It seems to give more leg room and also lowers you by a few inches so you've not got your head in the breeze/gale, the leg room is mainly from being able to sit up more straight and not slump to keep out of the wind. I keep the standard seat base in the boot for when my wife (5'4and a half, don't forget the half) drives.

No other modifications necessary. It works just fine with the wedged spacer...
