So I'm looking at the wiring today in preparation for doing a little electric work - wiring in a new device. I paid to have the battery moved to the trunk, and a cutoff switch installed. So turning off the power ought to be as simple as turning the key, right?

No...

I look under the car and the switch wasn't hooked up. The cables (and I have way overspecced the cables) are bolted together and then a piece of split rubber pipe was wrapped round them to act as top quality redneck insulation/weatherproofing.

It took me all of 45 minutes to do the job right. If I'd had longer arms it would have taken 10 mins.

The problem is that I then looked under the hood. The wiring there is so bad that I'm thinking of rewiring the entire car just because I think it'll be less work than trying to figure out what the dpm (like dpo but mechanic not owner) did.

Every time I look at this thing I get more depressed. If anyone wants a mechanic in CT I can tell you where NOT to go...

This is starting to sound like a wiring story from a guy in Puerto Rico........

I'd rather have it in my garage. I'm not sure how much longer he's going to be in business doing work like this...

Hey Tim, very nice job on the avatar /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/laugh.gif I just noticed the blinking right turn signal. How did you do that?
