What an adventure. Went to the ER last night because I got something in my eye. Evidently a tiny piece of metal. I was working under the "new" midget and was welding and grinding. I had safety glasses on but something got me and was driving me crazy. Doc, got it of after numbing my eye and using a q tip.

Back on the car again today. All welding is done. Its not pretty because its a flux core welder but it is strong. Next will come a good por-1 coating and topccoat, but that will come after my week vacation. leaving in the AM and won't be back until next Sunday.
Anyways, pictures.
New battery box plate welded in. Nice and thick.

New sill all welded in.

New thick plate in foot floor panel.

Welded up hole that the "highly intelligent" previous owner butchered out to put in a longer radio. This is the Icky backside of the weld. I welded it through the cut out of the old battery box. Either way it was just hard to get to and trying to fill in a 1/8 gap. One day I will have a TIG welder but not today. It is all filled in though ugly. I will grind that side down before painting.

Kim, Progress every day gets it done.

Your work is great!

Do NOT sell yourself short. Filling a 1/8" gap with TIG won't be any easier or prettier on the backside. There is no cover gas back there and filling large gaps on thin metal with TIG is an art. The flux core and you have done a really nice job!

Enjoy the vacation and be sure to post more pictures after you return.
