Finally got the car on the ground and started up. Shut down after a minute and found the oil supply to filter unit hose belched a quart or so of oil out onto the garage floor. No visible cracks and appears to have come from the fitting in the hose. I have ordered a hose from Moss. Also the radiator is now leaking constantly. Found the driver side end of the radiator is bashed in about an inch or so right in the middle of the side . I will take it out and see if I can repair it. Bob67bgt I called and left you a message about parts. If anyone else knows of a good source for a used radiator please let me know. I am not sure of the extent of damage at this point. I have one out of a 72 in a box on the shelf, I'll pull it down and check it out if you want. As I remember, it's in good shape. Of course, it's been in that box on a top shelf for 15 years! PJ

Paul, thanks for offering to look. I took the radiator out last night and fortunately only one downtube on the damaged side appeared to be broke open. It is on the far edge of the radiator and I was able to separate it from the fins. I had to cut off the surrounding steel frame to get at the tubes and fins where it was damaged. I hope to get the leaks sealed and the frame welded back on. Will update with some pics when done.

I did not get your call! I do have a late radiator here that belongs to a friend. I am assisting him with the disassembly of his 77 parts car. He would probably let it go very reasonable. Hollar if I can assist. Bob 704-907-0986 call or 704-296-0260 home.

Boggsy, The 72 rad I have has a bad core with fan damage. Been so long I forgot what condition it was in. Wasn't sure what year your car is. I have a good one out of a 79. One tube shut down shouldn't cause a problem on yours if the rest are clean anyway. PJ

I shut down the one bad tube at each tank, top and bottom, I covered the tube ends with JB Weld and will see when it cures. I know JB weld is not correct, but when I tried to solder the tube it did not go well...onto plan B. For the life of me it is hard to find just a good old auto shop close to where I am in South West Charlotte. Most are cookie cutter tire and oil change places. When I had my drive shaft out I looked for a shop and could not find one to balance it so I replaced it. Same with the repairing the radiator. True I don't want to drive all over town, after or during work, wish there was some place close.

Paul, after your last post I think I added my signature with "1977 MGB". I thought it was already there.. will see what happens now.

Test to see if the "Avatar" shows the car picture I just selected. This was on my profile and I wondered why it did not show on posts... go figure, learn something new everyday

i have loaded a picture and thought it was showing up on my posts. cant figure it out how did you get it to work?

Will, the picture to the left of all posts is called the "Avatar" (appearently). Goto settings and under profile there is an "edit Avatar". I used this to upload the photo of my car. The file size needed to be really small so I loaded my photo in "Paint" and saved it as a .gif file. This loaded easily and now shows up. Hope this helps
