It's a nice looking car. However, that's way out of my budget and I agree that the mods may not equate to value. However, the seller knows what he/she wants for it.

As of 3/3/16 there is one bid with 3 days to go. Whenever I see one bid and several days to go I wonder if that is a shill bid placed to make people think there is interest at that price. We'll see in three days.

It is a nice looking car and easy to see a lot of money has been spent on it. I tend to think the bid is a shill since it isn't red !

Not hard to imagine he has that much (and more) in it.

Many years ago when we got our GT6 roadworthy again I made the mistake of totaling the receipts. I had way more in the car than it was worth. However, as I have mentioned in other posts, our GT6 was purchased new by my wife's father so restoring it was a labor of love more than one that had to make financial sense.

Several years ago a local Mini owner built a replica 1275 rally car out of a common Mini 850. He put more than $30k into the project since he did not do the work himself. Then... divorce and a military deployment to the middle east. He ended up giving the car to his ex-wife as part of the settlement. A few years later the ex's new husband sold the car "for parts" to another local guy... for about $5k. There are many similar examples where you never get your money back out of a project car.

Good luck to the eBay seller.

Auction ended with a second bid of $18100 but item not yet listed as sold. Don't have any idea how these ebay things work, except lots of "sold " cars get re-listed. Time will tell if this one does too. If not and the first bid was a shill, it apparently worked. Seller seems to have a good record, as does buyer. Dunno, may be the GT6 is really becoming "collectible"?.

I'm calling it here first right now. GT6 prices are definitely on the rise, big time.

A green 70 6+ just sold for almost 17 grand and it had needs. This is the third 6 I have seen in the last month that has gone well into the high teens. There hasn't been one on Hemmings for a long long time. Hagerty's values are simply wrong. The GT6 is on the move, limited production, few left, reasonable performance, and universally liked as an attractive car. It's the next TR250.

PS: pics of my new 6 coming soon. But nevertheless buy 'em because you love 'em and don't worry about the price.

The car in the first posting ended up back on eBay, this time selling for $20600. I think Hagerty will need to make some adjustments soon.

Picture for the record. As noted some mods which may not be the taste of a purist.

Puzzling: first time on ebay, February 28, Sold on 2 bids.

Then relisted on ebay, April 17, 31 bids (9 bidders). Sold. Winning bid came fourteen seconds before auction closed.

Why the big increase in number of bidders on the second time around?

I swear there sometimes seems more people buying cars just to relist, than buying cars to drive.

Just guessing but it looks to me like Hagerty uses the big boy auctions and a few VIP dealers rather than eBay, and I can understand why. Far too unpredictable and hard to tell if sales are really sales. I will look forward to seeing a nice GT6 at a real auction. (I might even get a bidders card).

Yet another car I should have picked up when they were unloved and cheap not that many years ago. I always thought they were pretty cars and coveted the power of the big six when I was driving a Sprite back college.

Most of us have a long list of should haves, one of mine about this time last year. A very nice GT6 came up on Craigslist for $6500. I was the second caller but couldn't get there that day and the first caller bought it. I agree the GT6 has a lot going for it and the prices will rise as more people realize that.

Hmm...I've had mine for close to 33 years now and I've always explained to anyone showing interest in the GT6 that while they're really neat and very enjoyable to drive, they aren't worth very much and never will be. Looks as if I should consider no longer saying that. By the way, found it on a Dodge dealer's used car lot...it had been just traded on a new Omni.
