More on the Swiftune motor I'm working on.

Using the FWD MG Maestro A+ block on this engine is becoming more aware to me to be a really bad idea. The newest hurdle to leap, The maestro uses a totally different distributor, it clamped differently, it drive is totally different than a normal A series, and last but not least in the case is ditributor and cap are an endanger species on this coast, it's a 59D ( betcha you never heard of one of those  ) and even though I manged to find a cap on this side of the pond, the hold down clamps for the dizzy will have to be soured in the UK. All in all I can't think of many advantages to using this block for a US customer, and a couple dozen reasn not to use this block for a US customer. less than aspired by Swiftune at this stage of the game.

OH and the belt drive is history, the engine now has a vernier timing chain set up and a 1275 timing cover.

I tell you what I learned from all this is not to let UK builder buid you a engine, because they orbit a different planet and from what I can tell, I like the planet we're orbiting better

There is definitely something to be said for parts availability. We're definitely blessed that way with our chosen marque. As much as people rag on Moss and some of the other big suppliers, I'm grateful to have a catalog of parts to choose from.

Heard of, yes. Fondled? Never.

Sounds like you've got a bucket of worms to try and make an engine out of. There'd be no way that thing would be a "first choice" for a 1275 build. Shooting ones self inna foot, IMO.

Yep I fiquired out today that it looks like it will take a nomral 25D cap, I just have to install the cap spring locks, but the base of the dizzy is differnet, and yes the picture from 7 Eeterprises, that's what the hold down clamp looks like. My first thought was well the heck would Swiftune go to so much trouble to use this block, and convert it to inline, I guess inline block may be rare in the UK, stil not a good choice of blocks for a US customer for a Spridget. The motor is nice, but I can say this, I would have done things alot different than they did. I'll post picture of it next week, the customer had me paint it big Healey met. green, to cover up the hidious red that was on it, it's real good looking motor. I just hope for him, none of the A+ specfic items on the engine make long term life with it annoying as far as finding parts on this side of the pond.
