More on the heater case rebuilding project

Today I had the core pressure tested and it was fine. It held 18 PSI for five minutes under water with no leaks (bubbles). VERY important not to go too high with the pressure. Nothing good comes out of doing that. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/mad.gif 18 PSI is the max.

Radiator shops are not a place that I'd like to hang out at on a regular basis............very cold and very damp.

The heater motor is at Yankee Auto Electric being reconditioned, along with a spare fan switch, so that the resistor can be checked and two fan speeds can be verified.

What was it that originally made you pull the unit out?

great pics, I rebuild my heater last year using TRF fan motor and heater core, was not happy with the results so I purchased a used box on ebay and had the heater core cleaned out and leaked checked, took the motor apart and greased the bearings and cleaned everything and I have a new refurbished box ready to go in, just waiting for the sprit to move me, I never got a lot of air flow through the old refurbished box

I didn't actually pull it this time. I had a new motor installed when the transmission was pulled last fall. My motor was seized at that time. I just got lucky on a bid on ebay and got this unit and decided to tear it apart for the rebuild when I saw several questions posted here on the forum. I thought it would be easier to do it this way and post the pictures than try to explain everything blankly.
 
Yeah, right Shawn. Did you ever check the bottom of your shoes when you get out of one of those places? Thank goodness for snow piles. I have light tan carpeting in my new Ford 500 and didn't want permanent shoe treads implanted on the mats.
