More Leg Room ??

I know this post will probably yield more jokes than anything else, but I thought I give a shout to see what other BCFer's thought.

After a lengthy rebuilding, I find that the Sprite is about 6 inches too short on the leg room (driver's side).

I noticed and am hopeful that someone out there might have done some mod's to gather some leg room ???

I was thinking of a new accelerator pedal (moved back) or was really curious what was directly under the "shelf" in back of the seats? Could it be cut into to obtain a few needed inches of leg room w/o dealing with solid steel frame or ?? Anyother idea's (amputation doesn't appeal to me -- tailoring would be too expensive and my wife doesn't know the difference between a sewing machine and a coffee machine).

Don't think I'll sell the car (I enjoy it too much) -- but I'd sure could be more comfortable. Any and all thoughts are welcome.

George, after having spent an afternoon under the 'shelf' behind the seats ( installed a seat for my two and a half year old daughter ) I can confidently say that there's room to move your seat back a couple of inches or maybe even more. You can also lower the floor under your heels for more leg room.
Get under there and take a good look, you'll like what you see. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/hammer.gif
