So I thought I'd start a little daily update.
Things went so so today. as you can see the cabinets and flooring are removed. Sold the cabinets for $950, Sink for $125, and the oven for $150.
Only snafu is my plumbing system uses a manifold like this but 18 years older.

When I went to shut off the dishwasher valve ,the valve started leaking . After fiddling with it it got worse.
So , new manifold ordered, thankfully they still make something that fits.
NO hot water in the house, wife isn't happy.
So lets see what happens tomorrow.

Big cabinet still to be taken outside. Need a couple of strong bodies.

Mickey said he'd be right over to make up for the "nice rack" comments.

Sub-floor / surface under the old stuff look good.

Don,

That space would make a great workshop for your TR6. Just take that window out beside the door to widen it and your in!

Cheers,
Tush

A man with his priorities straight!

You don't really need a kitchen anyway..you got a BBQ right Don? One the rainy days, you can set up a coleman stove inside.

Cheers,

Boy do those pictures bring back some not so fond memories of two years ago....

Is that a GE Monogram oven in the second photo?
Boy if it is, I would have killed to buy the controller board.
We have two of them and a power spike damaged one of the boards. GE does not support them any longer :wall:
Let us know when the "Completion Party" will be and tell your wife that 12,121 of your BCF friends will be over for breakfast.

When it's all done you will have so many brownie points you won't be able to handle it. I just called husband and made my morning annoucement: "It's 7:45 AM. Do you know where your wife's new kitchen is?" I do believe I'll be smiling for a long time. Husband's new garagemajal, my new kitchen - it doesn't get any better. Oh wait, maybe new floors in the bathrooms, new carpeting... I can only dream.

I'm amazed that you are redoing a kitchen that looks basically brand new. mine is 60+ yeras old...

My wife wants to remodel our kitchen..... glad she doesn't visit this forum !!
Don't want to start put-n ideas in her head.
I'll just keep buying her car magazines..........

Baba, you are in so much t r o u b l e. I just may see her next Monday and I'm bring kitchen photos with me. So there!

Not much happened today. Met with the electrician.
Removed the garden window and installed the Bay Window.
Work on a squeaky floor that would not go away. Turned up to be my vac system in the crawl space rubbing on the floor joist! :wall:
Fix the hot water, wifey is grateful and I won't miss the camp showers either.

3/9/11
Electricians did the rewire and the taper came in and mudded the patched we fixed.
Installed the Range hood venting to the out side and that was about it today as the electricians were pretty busy in the AM.
Floor tomorrow

Taper did another coat today and we stood around and watched mud dry for a couple of hours. Then started the floor

It could be worth it to take her out to dinner on monday.... what do you think?
"It's got to be less expensive"

Started the floors around 11. Finished that much at 5. There were 3 bodies doing the work. The lay out, bump out and the 2 inlaid heat vents took quite a while but once we got on the long runs it was fairly quick. 2 guys laying the floor could barely keep with 1 nailer.

Looking good Don! I've been slowly converting my floors to mostly wood for a couple of years now, doing a room at a time as I have time. So far I've done the living room, the main hallway and two of three bedrooms. I just have one bedroom left (master) than I'm done. Here's a before and after pics of my living room:

One thing that ticked me off about my material. way too many 32" pieces and not enough longer ones. Each box had about 56 linear feet and out of that over half the pieces were 32" long.
we've put on 21 boxes and the 2 guys will now start on the cabinets and the last 24 are for me.
