TR6 More fun with Lucas

As we complete our resto on a '74 TR6, we again having fun with the electrics. This time we are unable to get the hazard lights working and therefore unable to get the signals working. When we pull the new hazard switch we get a dim lighting of the front LED signal lights and no lighting of the rear LED signal lights. We did find that we were getting 6.5 volts at the rear signal lights but obviously not enough to activate the hazard switch or illuminate the lamps. Our first thought was a lousy ground. The grounds in the vicinity of the lights appear OK but we were wondering if there might be some other ground not in the vicinity of the lamps that might need attention that we don't know about. Any ideas to move things along are appreciated. Thank you in advance.

To check, run a temporary wire forward to a battery post, or ground you trust. Then check the voltage from the temporary wire to the hot wire at the lamp.

Sounds to me more like a bad (high resistance) connection in the hazard switch; so I might be trying a temporary jumper to supply 12v directly to either the turn flasher or turn switch.

agree with poolboy, if you use LEDs you may have comparability issues with your flasher. All can be made to work, but trying filament bulbs would give a better idea of whether the system is working with the load it was designed for.

Agreed. Try incandescent bulbs to confirm the circuits work. You probably need LED rated flashers for both the hazard and turn signals.

Good suggestions. Thanks for your input. It will be a few weeks before we can get together to try some alternatives but I will file a report on our successes.
