I'm droping a 1275 engine and ribcase transmission in my Bugeye. Looking at the parts catalogs Moss and Vic. Brit, I have a few questions as to what parts to order. First the muffler, I will be using a late 1275 exhaust pipe....Should I order the 1275 muffler or the 948 regular Bugeye muffler? Second is the Speedometer cable, I have a 4" Black face speedometer from a early midget and I have the rib case transmission. Will the cable for the 948-1098 work with these items or should I go with the 1275 cable? Last is the clutch slave cylinder, again the ribcase transmission and the standard 7/8" bore master cylinder.Should I go with the 7/8" bore for the 948-1098 or the 1" bore for the 1275? Thanks, Don

You will need the 1275 muffler, 948s were smaller.
Get the speedo cable for the year of the car, they changed in 68 with the collapsable steering column and the cable was re-routed.
As for the slave, both will work but if you go with the 1" bore, provide a spot on the frame for the flex hose mount.

Thanks for the info. I'll get my order in and hopefuly have the car on the road by the time the snow starts falling.

I've currently got a Harley Muffler on Bugsy my '68 w BE Front End but am planning on changing to a Twin Chrome Tip Resonator, $37.00 or so from Advance Auto on line. Looks the part better than a plain pipe sitting back there. Even the freebie Harley Muffler looks nice.

Hehe, the exhaust system is supose to be flat balck, no tips.

Enjoy, it really looks great.

whatch for the tips hitting the rear bumberette

I had a small pipe bent downward and painted it black, nice & loud, discrete looking.

Oh yea, pipe should not extend further than two inchs from a string droped straight down from the rear body.
