The bRake parts finaly arrived!
But only one cylender.
Do you think I can get the girling cylenders locally?
We're they used by other makers later?

When I order mg parts I sometimes have to reference a later car with the same engine
Since the computers don't go back to the sixtys
Alot of times

One bRake cylinder?
ALL MK2's (and there has been a tad of discussion on first year leftover MK1 parts....) had 4-wheel disc brakes.
Your 67 is a 240 or 340, if I recall earlier discussions. You telling me they reverted to drum brakes?
Or are we talking master cylinder?
Last I checked there was only one.

I do see XKS lists rear calipers as cylinders.....but, interchange, yes, there is some, just make sure you get the correct diameter to match the other one!
 
The 2 1/8" diameter front brakes are available here in the U.S., new from a Nissan dealer. They were used by Datsun in the 1960's on their 1600 CC's convertable sports cars - the "fairlady" and are still in stock new. Each cylinder runs about 80 US dollars and the front of the car needs 4. The part number is 41100-14600. For a restoration shop, it's been cheaper to buy new, than to get the old ones re-sleveed and re-built. The rear calipers are a smaller diameter, but you can put on 4 new ones and install an in-line brake bias if it feels like there's too much rear brake.

I have four discs but lets not touch the fronts till I have to
right now I have the rears apart and have waited weeks for the rear cylenders and it turns out I needed to order 4 and only did one "#%$%

ok a buddy of mine is building a thirtys hot rod out of a XJS so i will ask him and the Datsun clue could be very handy

fantasik the nissan dealer can get them for me on friday
but at about 200 dollar each! ouch

should i switch to siliocn dot 5 brake fluid?
any issues?

Depends. If the parts have never had 3 or 4 in them, you have all new steel lines, all new hoses, new calipers, new master, and new booster (and cleaned or new reservoir), THEN you can call the suppliers and ask.....and on a MK2 Jag, they will tell you (as they have me), to NEVER put 5 in one. Near as I can tell from conversations with suppliers, the seals used won't stand up, apparently.
I've had suppliers and rebuilders tell me that.

Bottom line is, all new everything, yes, and then have real good insurance if the 5 causes a failure.
 
XK's and SNG , even one of the sleever/rebuilders tell me they don't have cups and seals that work with DOT5 for a MK2.
No idea if they're blowing smoke, or if it's just a CYA effort, but if the supplier tells me that, having worked professional auto repair all those years, I do exactly what they say.

well the brakes are on with dot4
bled the front and they look like they have been upgraded to the E type brakes!
the braking is good and firm.
next fresh tires the old are dry rotted and hitting the front arches.

The tyres on my MK2 had very low miles.....probably 2-3 thousand. But the sidewalls were so badly cracked you could see the air inside the tyre!
