One of my co-workers who was recently laid off, just died of a heart attack. Just d@mn!

Just horrible. Sorry Basil.

Very sorry to hear the news, Boss.

Basil:

This is most unfortunate and sad. Many people with good work ethics and company loyalty are shocked to find that during tough times they are nothing but a liability. It's no consolation to family and friends now, but most major companies extend benefits at least one month beyond the termination date. This means a lot later when reality hits and the bills need to be paid.

Sorry, Frank

I am so very sorry for your loss - it is indeed your loss and that of the family. There really are no words that can or will help.
