My cousin's name is Johnny Cowell.
The Righteous Brothers sang one of his songs, and The Guess Who had their second big hit off his songwriting.
Oscar Peterson, jazz great from Montreal, called him the best trumpet player in Canada and as good as Louis Armstrong.
He played for the Toronto Symphony Orchestra for 35 years.
Another of his biggest songs was the theme for the movie Our Winter Love.

I hate to mention this stuff cause it sounds like I'm bragging, but this guy is the real deal.
