i installed my muffler i got from Droo...
it sounds real nice and a little loud, but im
happy.......
my car is running a little different from the change over....
its kinda weak on take off, (timing?) but really scoots when i get the
RPMs up....i coulda swore i was going 50 mph in 2nd
earlier....or was it 3rd? /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif
it appears that my motor is more comfortable at the higher RPMs than it was with the OLD stock muffler and pipe.....

what differences should i be seeing with my new setup?...
any adjustments i should make for it?.........zimmmy

The Harley guys have an expression..."Loud pipes save lives"...people notice you!!!

The Harley guys are just plain wrong. The Doppler effect means that they are only loud after they get past you. Loud pipes only annoy people and get bikes banned from parks and private communities. Having said that, there is no way a Spridget will ever be as offensive as a Big Twin with drag pipes. The funny part is that the shorty pipes have too little back pressure for the engine to run properly, thats why they sell restrictors for use with loud pipes.

People notice you and then they give you the one-finger salute.....

Glad you got it installed, Zimmy. Wish I knew more about what the (probably) freer-flowing exhaust would do, but it's all a bit of a mystery to me.

From what I understand a free-flow exhaust will improve both power and mpg... the exhaust gases are leaving the car quicker giving it more power, and as the engine doesn't have to work as hard to get the gases out, it increases your mpg a little.
That said, if it is only working well at high revs all is not well... sounds like a lack of back pressure: you checked all the exhaust joints to make sure it is all sealed properly?

Back when my midget was together it had the monza muffler and the weber carb on it and I took it on a trip from here to Roanoke Va. It got 37 mpg on the trip. I'm hoping it will do better than that with the higher gearing that I have put in.
