as i continue to attempt to change my recently purchased 59 bn6 two seater with v8 modifications. i want to change the fuel filler cap or door or whatever. it is a very large monza type which was probably okay back in the 60s when the car was converted to a v8. i have attached a picture....it must be the largest one offered as the lid is over 5 inches in diamer and it is an eyesore to me because of this....unfortunately the fuel filler neck opening in the body is even larger for the flange to bolt on. yes i could spend the money and have the area welded up with the correct opening...and if anyone has a shroud that is unusable i would be willing to purchase the filler opening area. but, for the time being any suggestions for a more expedie IMG_2254.jpgnt remedy. i can order a filler that would cover the current opening. it would be very low profile but would work. just concerned if it is just not the right look for an early healey...oh well any ideas, pics, or suggestions are appreciated....thank you

I see by searching online that there are a lot of options for fuel fillers. However, that large hole does make it tricky if you want expedient without welding.

One other option if you can't find a Healey body to steal the metal from is to find a modern car with a flap that would fit flush, and have the metal welded into place. You would then have an "invisible" fuel door with a modern cap below.

If you ever want to sell the one that's on there I might have an interest.

yes a smaller lid would be better...but unfortunately the hole is way to large for a more moderate lid! i though about fitting a piece of aluminum with flush mount screws and then bolting on a small more streamlined flip type filler. i agree that an aero type filler is just too modern appearing. i wish i could find someone with a heavily damaged shroud with a good filler opening area about six inches in diameter!

Why not fit that flush mount but paint the outer ring with the screws in so it blends with the body so just the door is aluminum/Chrome ? It would give the illusion of being smaller ?
