When I went through school most of the male teachers, and some female, had their own custommade paddles up to 3 ft long. We'd be wondering who got "cracked" when you heard it echo through the halls. And most older male and female teachers were WW2 veterans when tolerated no horseplay. Parents generally did not complain if a kid was "corrected"..
