Mole Grips

I saw the name in another thread and it reminded me of a curiosity.
Being a Brit, I do of course own some Mole grips, though the jaws are very worn now. I've only had them since 1964 - stuff doesn't last.
Anyway, they were made by a firm founded by a Mr Mole, just across the river Severn in Newport, Monmouthshire. Originally they were called Elmo Grips, in the way companies used to make anagrams of their names.
My father had a pair of Elmo Grips, but they disappeared years ago. Anyone else remember the name?

I think Oscar wanted Elmo to get-a-grip too.

I would say, "Where's Elmo?", but that's Waldo's job. :jester:

Are mole grips just regular vice grips, or something all together different?

Barbie brought assault charges against GI Joe because he had Kung-Fu grip!
