MGB Modify new exhaust system for ground clearance?

I have a new "big bore" stainless exhaust system on my '77 B. It went in great and I am using the factory midpoint exhaust hangers. I am still waiting on the rear exhaust hanger (on back order from Moss for 60 days!). I have the very rear mounted with an aftermarket strap hanger. The exhaust is relatively straight and level front to back of the car. With the car off the ground and the axle is suspended by the rebound straps the new pipe is just snug against the bottom of the rear axle. This however makes the exhaust pretty darn low. Looks to me like it will get ripped off the car by the first bump. Have others gotten the pipes "custom bent" to get a tighter fit?

I ran a custom system on my '70 -- used a glass pack in the middle instead of the stock canister. My local shop put it together and it was all pretty snug up to the car. Some folks delete that center canister as well, though the resulting increase in noise level may not be what you're looking for.
