Well, I guess that sort of sheds some insight on my previous post about modified vs. original.

That site is like the parallel universe to our site /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif

Strange. Seems that many of those modified cars probably cost about as much to "modify" as it would have cost to properly restore to original.

Why?

Because they can???

The one with the tail lights in the link, above, nearly caused me to take a trip to the rest room! /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/eek.gif

...Dont knock it until you have tried it!

Did they say that when C.S. put a Ford in a AC or in an Alpine?

yup .. a bit hypocritical to say some mod's are good and others are bad. I say, bring it on. Donald Healey loved modified cars .. the more the merrier! /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/devilgrin.gif

Many modified cars were junkyard finds back in the day. Guy I know did one in the '70s with a 289 Ford which he spent about $500 on and did all the work himself.

I think that guy is ME !

I bought my Healey with a blown engine in 1974 for $500. If I had not bought it it would have been parted out & junked.

I bought the driveline for $100 and daily drove it for 3 years.

When I re-did it in the 90s, I put less than $2,000 into it and half of that was for the paint & supplies.

It might not be worth as much as it would be stock, but it's worth a LOT more than I have in it.

Tim,

I like my original Healey, but you have outdone yourself, the engineering and execution are excellent and the finished product is really awesome...I'm going to go watch the video now.
