wanna shoot some guns?
Sounds great anytime. I'm into building top quality benchrest target rifles & custom 45 ACP's, plus a few antique rebuilds & precision hunting rifles. Not digital & a lot more action than computers. Takes a lot more mechanical skill too.
I know several folks that have migrated from motor racing to gun smithing. Both have a lot more action than digital stuff.
To me, it's a lot more fun than writing endless computer code which mostly leads to nothing productive. In the end, with machinery, you end up with finished & usable projects that everybody is happy with.
Before that it was motorcycle & car racing, but too old for that now. I was into ham radio & eletronics pretty heavily a one time. It got boring also & I purposely forgot all I knew about the stuff.
This old fartt now learns only enough new computer stuff to get by a bit. Computers are only a throw away appliance to me, much like a toaster. Not a toy, not entertainment. I don't really care how they work. Mac Intel core 2 Duo./OS10.4.11. If it craps out it's backed up by a fully bootable external HD. If it fails, it goes in the garbage.
I'm so old fashion the I have a cell phone which no one has the number to. It's if I want to call someone but I don't want them bothering me. I can't believe that folks carry around a cell phone to be available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. They essentially become complete slaves to their bosses, & business contacts. My ego doesn't need to be needed by everyone for a good life. My time is mine as I choose & no one elses. The land line has answering service & I dont usally pick it up. Not worried about missing a call. Do check for messages every couple of days in I remember to.
Cars, on the other hand, are still fun, always have been. always will be.
Dave, I started out to agree with you & got carried away.
