MK III pistons and rings

I've torn down the engine of my'72 MK III and sent the block, head and crank off to the machine shop to be inspected and cleaned. When I took out the pistons, they were flat topped, not domed, and they had two small vents below the oil ring on each side of the piston. These are MK III pistons aren't they? I'm asking before I buy the wrong rings.

I'm assuming this is a GT6? original engine? If so, it should be the block with the recessed bores and lower compression (engine serial number ending in "UE"), so I'd expect flat-top pistons. I'm not sure that would matter regarding rings, as the 2.0L engines all had the same bore. Domed pistons were fitted to this engine only for markets OTHER than the US, near as I can tell (and according to the Canley Classics and Spit Bits web sites).

Hymodyne,

I got a set of new "County" brand .20 over flat-top pistons from James Paddock, Ltd. in the UK for about $200.00 U.S. You might want to check the current exchange rate. I bought them about a year ago @ $1.50 to the Pound. I seem to recall that they had the domed pistons available as well.

I also bought a new oil pump, rings, bearings, etc. at prices that were better tha here, including shipping. My secondary choice would be BPNW.
