Mk 2 Midget rev counter

Dont want to hijack Richs post .
My 66 Midget is positive earth. I have not been able to get the tacho working .
Since putting it back on the road this weekend (first time in 8 years) I have tried to sort the little electrical gremlins . I noticed today that the rev counter says its negative earth ! This no doubt is the reason it doesnt work . Is there any way to get it to work on a positive earth car , or what is involved in changing the car to neg earth ? I would prefer not to spend loads on a pos earth rev counter if I dont have to . Thanks in advance Scott.

This is a perfect excuse to make the car negative earth! the hardest thing to get changed IS the tach... .. however, there are tons of posts and pics on the forum on how to change to negative.. just reverse the procedure.....

I switched my positive ground to negitive this winter, here's a picture of the guts. Do the opposite? It would be far easier to make the car negative earth though, wouldn't it?

Keep in mind, you may want to add more electrical stuff later. So, if you change the tach to positive earth, and then want to add something that only is available in negative, you'll have to change it back and also change the electrical system to negative. This is why I always suggest changing to negative earth as soon as this kind of issue arises.

Changing to negative earth is easy. There are loads of treatises on this. Search the archives or do a google search. Here's a start: https://www.hendrixwirewheel.com/polarity.html
