Just got my 1973 B back from a 2 year restoration project. The body shop missed a couple of things....Just behind the cockpit, but ahead and outside of the retainers for the retainer bar are threaded holes, one on each side. I can't for the life of me remember what goes in there, and the body shop is tgrying to remember as well....

I could post a picture if necessary.

Sounds like where the shoulder belt mounts go on the later cars, but I have only early cars so I can't verify this.
 
If it is what I am thinking of it is on page 30 of the Victoria British catalog. A seat belt button screws in there for the early cars to have a shoulder strap attached. A nylon plug is avaiable to push in to fill the hole. I went out and checked, there is one on my 71, and 74, but the 77 MGB I have does not have those holes.

I always thought they were for the factory top to have mounting pins, but that was wrong.

I found the seat belt button in the catalog, but are you aware of a source for the nylon plug? I have a couple I'm using now that seem to work, but I'd prefer something made for the car.....
 
Ya got me, your choices, talk to Moss or Victoria British.
 
I believe the plugs are NLA.

Home Depot, Lowes, Menards, etc may have something to work.

You might also place a WTB ad on this (and other) forum's Trading Post forum(s).

E-bay is another possibility.

Look for cars being parted out.
