Jack, I agree with Tony on both counts. Looks great, but you really need to upgrade those tie down straps. Remember to cross mount them once she's on for a trip.

Heh, that strap you see was just a short peice around the front frame that I could attach the winch to if needed. I did not need it. She went right on and off like the good girl she is.

Oh forgot to say, went for a ride today and suckered an SUV into a turn. hehe. Only about 40 but bet he won't do that again. Was a bit close.

Yeah, what they said and you already know about tie downs...good heavy ones, crossed X .

I assume this shot was staged...i.e., you moved the truck after the car was loaded. I know this because that trailer does "wheelies" if it's not hitched up and you put weight on the rear.

BUT, even on flat ground...get some chocks under the wheels...both wheels...both in front and and behind the wheel. I like the big black rubber chocks, like they use for airplanes; don't waste your money on those Walmart plastic ones. If there's a Tractor Supply or Northern Tools nearby they usually have them for a decent price and occasionally you'll see the good rubber ones at Walmart.

& before you take the trailer off the truck, put a scissor jack under the rear & jack it up tight....that way, it definitely can't tip up when released from the truck.

I nearly lost my head a couple of years ago with my little trailer. I had my Fiat (rear engine) on it,nose to the front, and backed it up to the garage. The game plan was to unload the car straight into the garage.
Forgetting it was a single axle, I lowered the front landing gear, and tripped the latch. The hitch popped off the ball as the trailer rotated around it's axle, and the tongue missed my nose by about an inch. Scared the living bejeebers out of me, as I was alone, and no one would have found me until I started to stink!
I was used to my tandem axle 32 footer, and never even thought about it.

Reminds me of a story my brother told me. He bought a tent trailer and as the salesman was showing him how to hook it up, my brother asked "how often do you suppose does the tongue accidently come off the hitch? The answer, "only once,"

No, I loaded it without the truck. Put some blocking under the rear cross member. There was a chock under the wheel. Drive is sloped a bit as well.

Remember my hitch on the truck is still 6 inchs too high. One is comming but will be another week.
