Hi, My 70, is causing me a bit of grief lately. I spent the last hour redoing the carbs and timing. all is spot on. But there is a mis fire. Not so bad now that everything is set but it is there. I pulled the plug leads and all plugs were firing. I cleaned the rotor and cap, they were new in June. I put in a new fuel filter. The floatbowls are filling ok. What am I missing or what should I check next ??
 
If you have a timing light you can watch the firing of each cylinder via the strobe. This will tell you off an intermittent miss in one cylinder, all of them or none. You can usually pick up some reference point on the damper and notice a skip in the rhythm. If ignition looks good then go to the carbs.
 
thanks for the suggestion I will use the light to look at all the plugs, nos 1 is steady at 10 BTDC. Yhe carbs I balanced and set this afternoon. They are good to go. ....I think
 
How old are the plug leads??

Check with engine running first in the dark. Just might see a bit of spark on one of them.

and maybe spray a bit of water on them from a spray bottle and not a hose
