mirror lucas vs. bullets

I want some side mirrors. Talked to a guy yesterday who used to have an MGA, I mentioned I'd read the fender mirrors weren't very useful and he claimed he loved his on his A, so now I'm swinging back toward fender mounts (was considering the Harley windshield frame ones too).
So, which is more "correct" on a '63 Lucas or Bullet or either?
Mostly just aesthetic preference I know but am seeking input on functionality too.

PS any input on where to place them would be appreciated too!, like actual measurements

Hello, Can't help with midget but on the B I had it came with bullet mirrors on the fenders and I hated them, could not see anything and they were always in the way when I worked under the hood. like you I am still trying to decide what kind of mirrors to put on my 74 midget.

Someone else complained about the fender ones being in the way while working under the hood too. I stopped by a harley store, they had the round ones that can be put right on the windshield (not on a '74 though I don't think) but they had "Harley Davidson" written up the stem.
You don't want the standard '74 door mounted ones?
I hate to put holes in my fenders only to find out they aren't functional or are in the way.

I had a conversation with a couple of folk just this week at my club - both thought the fender mounted mirrors were useless - as one guy put it, "all I could see was a little circle." I put bullet mirrors on the doors where the old mirrors were. - they look good to these eyes though they were a bit of a pain to install as they had to be screwed on from the back which necessitated drilling though the inner door skin and getting shorter screws which turned out to be metric and I had to squeeze the bolts in with a pair of tweezers and and and ...

Today I was at a car show and there was a midget that had a mirror clamped on the vent window - of course I neither took a picture nor followed it up - but it sure looked cool.

Jack did some nice Harley mirrors that mounted to the bolts for the windshield frame on his Bugeye. Your '63 should have the same mount locations -- nice thing there is that they don't require any drilling or extra holes.

No drilling, no new holes on a Bugeye.

Nope not real happy with the mirrors on my 74 midget, they work well but don't like the look to much. thought about the ones that attach to the vent frame but not sure how well they work. anybody else try them.

Here's the thread on the Harley ones. (which I'm leaning back towards BTW) I may as well try 'em and nothing lost if I don't like them, at least no damage to the car.
I can't find the thread that mentioned the quarter window clamp on style back right now. Some discussion of not being able to open the vent window with them on. Of course those don't interest me, I don't have quarter windows to clamp them to!
Do these look similar enough to the Harley ones? I'll order up a couple and go from there.

Found this though. Scroll down, there's some.

that is them, go for it.

I put the "lucas" style mirror on my fender last fall, once I had it adjusted it has been great this season, no complaints at all - it has got bumped by the odd idiot in a parking lot or at a car show, but I like it so much better than the door mounted one I can live with a few "re-adjusts" (not to mention my 67' should have never had a door mount originally) see this post for the measurments for fender mounting...

Okay, I ordered up the "biker mirrors" from the ebay listing above. Still think I may prefer the wing mounted (probably Lucas) style but I'll try these out first. I'll be sure and report back.

hay, for the price a test of the Harley mirrors is the way to go.
