Unless land in AustraliaYou aren't supposed to park those upside down.
Quite possiblyRead something about bumpy winds. Maybe a downburst?

Hard landing could be the cause.Did anyone notice that one of the main gear seems to have collapsed as the a/c touched down?
Yes, most likely because his rate of descent was far too high and he didn't flair. Looked like he was landing on a carrier.Did anyone notice that one of the main gear seems to have collapsed as the a/c touched down?
Wind could have definitely been a factor, but my son, who has time in the CJR 900, thinks the rate of descent all the way in looked too fast, but hopefully we will learn the cause(s) once they do the investigation.I'm thinking the gusty winds may also have been a factor in that landing.
If the a/c was crabbing to compensate for a strong cross wind - and the cross wind suddenly drops - the pilot may not have had time to correct the angle and flare. Vice versa - if a crosswind suddenly increases strength, there may have been insufficient time to correct and flare - or even "go around".
There are at least twice as many as that!In other news we have had people from two countries texting today to make sure we weren't on the plane. (In fairness we were returning home from a cruise). Still all Mrs JP could say was 'do these people think there are only 18 people in Canada?![]()
