Mini Race Vid [from my car]

I posted this on the "Mini" section of BCF as well, but since it's a race vid, it fits in pretty well here too.
Basically, it's me tailing a Mini at a race track.
The Mini in question belongs to my old pal, Bruce Whipple and the video shows us during practice for an EMRA Sprint race at Summit Point, West Virginia in Nov 2006. Bruce's car is a '61 (dry suspension)with a 1275 engine, a single H4 carb and a Metro camshaft. Cooper S disk brakes are fitted and it has all the racecar stuff such as a full cage, fuel cell, harnesses, etc. It's also street legal (he also has a red Mini street car and up until a while ago, he had a new MINI as well (replaced by a BMW wagon).
The vid is about 5 minutes long.

Early on you can also spot Pete M's orange '62 Sprite. I co-drove that car later that day in the 4-Hour Twilight Enduro.

There is some pretty good shots of me passing Bruce and visa-versa. Also, some decent action, especially when the Entropy Racing Renault sport racers try to get past a pack of us slower cars in the Wagon Bend.
You may also spot the blue and orange TR-250 (followed by a while BMW).
And plenty of those wretched Miatas!

Good video!

I made engine noises with my mouth while I watched.

Your line looks much better (just like the classic line that they teach) than the Mini driver's line. Especially in the Carousel, where you got around him.

Cool video Nial. You drive a nice tidy line.

That's a beam axle TR4 not a TR250 /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif It runs SVRA. He was just down there testing some things out and it was his first time at Summit Point track in 25 or so years. He was running in 2nd at one point, but spun out in T1. He would have been faster if he had stuck around for more sessions. Good stuff.

Nial- also looked at the EMRA footage posted by Praetorian27. Is he on the forum??

No. I think he's an SCCA guy who comes to some of our events. We get a fair number of guys like that.

Glad the rest of you like the vid!

Most folks just think I have a "good line of BS"...so thanks for the compliment! /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif

Monkeywrench:
Thanks for the info...hard to tell those TRs apart.

Man it's tough to hit your marks when all of those cars are passing you.(speaking from experience) I think you can use a bigger loud pedal. I gotta get out there and run with you guys again. I haven't been to an EMRA event in years. Hopefully finances will allow it this year.
