Okay, I really wanted to wait until I had more/better pictures to post, but I wanted to share. I was in a checkered mime photoshoot with my checkered mini and here's the first image that the photographer shared with me. I promise to post more when I get ones where you can actually see more than just the engine.

Oh Noes! My valve cover!

Thanks for posting! Cool outfit!

And, hey, fill out your profile so we'll know a little more about you. You must be an artist, I'd say.

And, can't wait to see more than just the engine!! /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/blush.gif /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/iagree.gif

Just a suggestion. And, I don't think the nude modelling photos would pass muster here, either. It's a squeaky clean website, which sometimes can be quite refreshing, actually.

I find it so interesting the wide range of folks who are attracted to these cars. And, I think it's great that younger folks like to play with LBCs, especially young women. It's somewhat rare to find women under age 30 or so who like to restore and drive these cars. As such, I think you'll find that you are most welcome here.

Your car, the Mini Cooper, is a natural LBC to choose nowadays, maybe due to its link to the modern MINI. Unfortunately, the prices are rising due to the relationship! Fun car to drive and own.

Please keep posting photos of your car, please! And of course, photos of you, too!

Wow... I didn't know that he died.

No, the engine is not running any cooler, but we just recently turned the idle down (it was idling extremely high, so I think that may have been causing some of the problems in city traffic). However, my master brake cylinder gave out on me in my boyfriend's driveway and was stopped by a tree. All I got was a crushed eyelid (the car's not mine) and a tiny (possibly fixable) dent in the bumper. That will all be cheap and easy to fix, but I'm hoping we can just hone out the cylinder and it will work again because I really don't want to drop $300 to get a new one...

If your idle is/was way high, it might not hurt to go through a complete tune-up sequence. If the timing isn't set right it can affect the idle speed and the temperature. Always go through the ignition settings and adjustments BEFORE making carb adjustments. Don't forget if you're setting the timing dynamically (with a timing light) that you need to disconnect and plug the vacuum advance line to the distributor while making the timing adjustment.

Accident? The car's not yours? Crushed eyelid? Yours... or do you mean a headlight peak on the car? I'm REALLY sorry to hear about that. You've had a rough summer getting the bugs out of this car. Bumpers are cheap... much cheaper than master cylinders... much cheaper than doctors office visits. I'm glad you're OK.

The car is mine, the eyelid was not mine (it was the car's) I think we can hammer out the little dent in the bumper anyway.

Sorry to sound so dense. I obviously misinterpreted " car's ".

Great photo.

Somewhere around here I have a picture of my younger daughter with a painted face (for Halloween) in front of my old Mini (it's from years ago...she's married now and actually lives in Maryland).

My pal, Bruce, has had a number over overheating problems with his racing Min despite double-checking everything any of us could think of. One thing that did make a useful difference was to seal around the edges of the radiator so that air must go through it (and not sneak around it). This was achieved with some thin sheet aluminum and duct tape. Of course, as the weather gets cooler, overheating will be less of an issue anyway.

By the by, I know you guys were at the Pittsburgh Vintage (so was I and so was Michael Oritt). The vintage season is not over yet. We are having a vintage event at Watkins Glen on Oct 19-21 (kind of a long haul, I know) and also the Vintage Turkey Bowl at Summit Point (WV) on Nov 23-25. There'll be lots of racing Minis and other stuff.

My last vintage race of the season is this weekend, an SVRA event at VIR. I crew for my father-in-law who at 75 (may) be nearing the end of his track time.

#2 son-in-law is already eyeing up my racer....actually, I'm already sharing it with him.
And #1 son-in-law seems to be getting the racing itch too.

My father-in-law has a driver in mind but he's skipping me and wants my older son to take over. If he did want to go racing... I think I'd be OK with vintage but I'd get nervous if he wanted to go SCCA like my father-in-law used to. The SCCA crowd is a lot more intense than the vintage racers.

I think SCCA is what my boyfriend is looking at. He got his hands on a late 80's Renault F1 engine. He's rebuilding it and dreaming about what to put it in. I'm sure he plans on racing it.
