Mill/ Lathe needed

We need to buy a mid size mill and lathe for the shop. Limit will probably be $2,500-3,000 each. Any suggestions? Will need tooling too.
 
kellys guy, there are a great number of outfits that buy and sell such exuipment from shops that have closed up or resized, some handle equipment that has been refurbished, these places are all over the country. check the net. :yesnod:
 
kellysguy, i dont know exactly what kind of work your looking to do but youll get a good idea of pricing at BOLTON hardware. prices are close to what you want to spend.
 
Gonna be fabbing one-off automotive bits, brackets, pieces, doo hickies and thingamabobs.
 
Look to older Rockford or South Bend stuff. And remember, early Asian-built machines are junk.

Chinouis stuff was able to hold tolerances to within a half an inch thru that period, AFAIR. :smirk:


Mebbe now it's a bit narrower but we ran away when Starrett began offering "digital" micrometers. :wink:

Although everytime I see it his car drive me nuts. It REALLY needs a rear spoiler on the trunk. Those car just don't look right w/o them.
