Mileage Meter ???

We are really trying to do our best to squeeze the most miles out of our $4/gal gasoline. In addition to modifying our driving style is ther such a thing as a "mileage meter" that can be installed to keep track of our fuel economy and provide a warning when we exceed a desired mileage.
 
If you have a relatively new vehicle, a scan tool should be able to show that information. Scanguage is one brand that comes to mind. Otherwise, I've never heard of one that could be added on.
 
A simple vacuum gauge might be able to give you some indication. I'm sure you can still get them at an auto parts store. I have a similar thing as standard on my daily driver Bimmer, and it does give a good idea of how economically I'm driving.

Otherwise, just keep track of your mileage every time you fill up.
 
I agree with Steve!! Back in the day, before all the digital gadgets and all, vacuum guages were the cool meters! You can diagnose a lot of stuff with a vacuum guage, including how efficiently your motor is running!! :wink:

You could also install a fuel flow meter which will allow you to see your actual fuel usage in gal per hour and on some models miles per gal and depending on the model the amount of gas remaining in the tank.
 
I have my own personal mileage meter in my pocket. When I start out I can feel my wallet, but by the time I get there, I can't.
