Midget Window Crank Binding

Surprisingly after all the work I have done on my car I havent had to have the door panels off for anything. Yet lately I have an issue that has slowly gotten worse with the drivers side window binding when cranking the window about half way down. Im getting a bit concerned Im going to break the plastic window handle it gets so hard to turn. Once Im passed that point its easy to get it the rest of the way down. Im guessing my window crank brackets inside are coming apart? Not to sure on this since I havent seen the inside of the door yet. Any idea's?

I had a similar problem with my car for about a year and finally I broke down and fixed it. All the problem seemed to be was that the glass was sticking in the channels. I used some Silicon spray in the channels and also on the roller and guide for the lift mechanism and it all works smooth as glass now. There wasn't a problem with the gears or mechanism at all. You do need to remove the door panels to get good access, but it's simple once that's out of the way. The spray was a Liquid Wrench product I got at the local auto parts store.

I had the same problem as well, but only realized it after reassembling the door and glass mechanisms. Having bought my car in boxes, I had no prior experience with the door glass or winding mechansim. Turns out the door glass bottom metal channels really want a smooth action with the two rollers from the winding mechanism. I sprayed white lithium grease liberally in the channels and at the rollers themselves, and wire brushed some of the oxidation off of the mechanism itself. Again applying white lithium grease to the teeth, gear, and internal winder mechanism. I'd rate it a 75% improvement. I placed new felt channels to the rear channel glass assembly and the vent glass frame assembly too, and I'm hoping once they 'settle' in over time, it will give me even more ease in movement.
I picked White Lithium Grease based on some former BCF threads, (wont melt or bleed, will stay put for life), however, I like the thought of Bill's silicone spray, and if I had to do it over again would probably go with that.
