Midget versus Beetle Cabrio

Okay, it's decision time!!
I expect you guys to be biast but tell me why I should buy a midget instead of a convertible beetle!
Anyone I've spoken to says:
The beetle is stronger/great hood!
Doesn't leak!
More room!
Midget is tiny!
On the other hand, the midget is:
More fun!
Zippier!
More of a classic!
So the odds seem in favor of the Beetle cabrio but something in my head says "BUY A MIDGET!" but I don't know why!
So Guys tell me why! Help me make a decision, PLEASE! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cryin.gif

Are you looking at a brand new VW or the old air cooled jobs? What Midget are you looking at, a project or one ready to go? I would think a restored Midget will save you many dollars over the cost of a new VW. Whatever you chose just ask yourself which will give YOU the most pleasure owning. I say Midget cuz I love mine. Good luck!

Beetle Forced air "heating"

Midget Gerbil breath heat

On a rainy day you can probably see where you are going in the Midget.

No matter what, the VW will never be as much fun as the spriget. There is just something about a car that makes you grin like a fool after every back road sprint that the VW will never have.

Boy I don't know. I've seen some Beetles that could really haul the mail. Of course they were beyond the point of diminishing return as far as money spent vs horsepower goes but they can be lots of fun. Still, this isn't a Beetle forum its a BCF forum so expect most everyone here to say that you should get a midget. You just have to decide what you want your car to do for you then you can make the decision.

They're both good cars, it's just what you want from a car...

The classic Beetle has a very strong following (as does the Spridget crowd). The Beetle... it is not a sports car, but owners I have talked to are very enthusiastic about them and enjoy them as is, and I'm told they get grins in their own way, but not necessarily from a fast run along a country road, just simply from the VW experience itself.

A Spridget should also be a blast, driving-wise, but I'd say it has slightly less character (design-wise) than the Beetle, but it is a true sports car so will be fun to drive (around winding Irish back roads).

In my reckoning, you can't go wrong either way.

My daughter's first car was a '71 Karmann Ghia (we still have it)....she never liked driving any of my MG's except my little MG1100 2-door sports sedan....her grandmother drove Beetles for as long as I knew her...when one of her daughters went to college, she gave them her Beetle & bought a new one....we still have her last one, a '73 Super Beetle that only has 75,000 miles on it...I enjoy driving it for different reasons that I enjoy driving my Midgets...love my '63, have fun in my '74 RWA, hate my '76 & actually prefer the Beetle to it!
