MIDGET TRUNK CARPET KIT HELP

I am trying to install the Victoria British trunk carpet kit (16-694) in my 76 and I can't seem to fit the side panels in. These are the 2 pieces that have the Masonite board on them. They look like they should go on the outside of the trunk channel, but I can't get them in without breaking the board? Plus, I am going to have to cut the one on the left side to fit around the gas fill hose and evaporator line. Has anyone fought this battle before? Thanks ....AL

The rubber bumper cars have extra bracing in the trunk that the earlier cars did not. Is this a kit for rubber bumper cars or a generic kit?

Yes, mine is the rubber bumper model and yes it has the bracing you refer too. Without that it would probably fit fine. I did not buy the kit myself, the previous owner had purchased it and I got it with the car. The kit "looks" exactly like the pic in the VB catalog, but who knows. I called VB but they did not have any instructions. Thanks for your quick response. I wanted to put the kit in today/tomorrow because I am going to a local car show on Sunday ....AL
