Looks good so far! Good luck with the painting and be careful.

Remind me again... why has the heater shelf been removed?

Probably gonna put a Jag lump in there /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/jester.gif

Sure looks good though. Wish mine was anywhere close to this.

heater shelf was the only part of the car badly rotted out. So I yanked it may put it back one day but no heat and batt in the back so no immediate need to replace it. Not Going to be a street car. Heres some pics with all the primer done

How come you didn't pull the doors - you've taken everything else off?

Whats left in the photos is the only steel in the car. All the Other Panels are Fiberglass. With the exception of the Rad. Support hanging behind the car. Just easier to spray it all at once.

I love the back license plate hole - is that your idea or a panel? also, any particular reason you cut the front bumper braces so far back?

just noticed the RWA -cool!

John, the RWA is a common mod to a 1500 tub when set up for racing. There are a couple of features of the 1500 chassis that make it desireable, and the round arches are pretty much a requirement for tire clearance. My guess is that Lou has some nice glass rear fenders ready to go on. I can see the attach points.
My H Production '62 is set up much the same.
Jeff

I cut the Front Arms back so far cause I came across a clean 1970 Radiator support on ebay for $20. (A Steal compared to what they really sell for.) I welded my new lower valance to it and replaced the 7" on the end of the frame as well as fabricated new supports out of 1 1/4 angle. Nevertheless I had no holes for the bumper extensions in the 1970 rad support so I chopped them as far back as the 1970 inner fenders were. I plan to weld clean caps on them to avoid whistling but havent gotten to it yet. As for the back, Jeff you hit it on the nose, I opened them up as far as I could. Make room for tires and lowering. Here's some pics of all the fiberglass mounted before I got the car blasted.

I always hated a rear plate on these cars and thought it would look good recessed so I welded in a rollpan insert. I had to replace that whole rear valance cause this tub was rearended some years ago and the body work was pretty lousy. Paid off pretty well though, I used an early model valance that had no bumps for the rear bumper mounts and cut the rear extensions back a bit too.

Also notice the convertible top lip has been cut closed and shaved. No top going on this. Headed to the rollcage fab shop in a week or so. Can't wait.

[Tony... Took some doing but got this pics to shrink.]

Anyway to reduce those last 2 photos? They're so wide the writing scrolls off the screen...

THANKS!!

Looking good!

I'm building a '62 Sprite presently and going "clean"...since it already lacks door handles and vent windows (or rollup windows for that matter) I'm going bumperless and losing the finder beading.

I too didn't like the looks of the protruding plate on the rear profile, so, last week did a frenched tag. Remarkable how similar to yours.

I love em when they are so clean and nice.

So a normal Car it would be welded in. The reason i Ask is iam Getting ready to dismantle one of my cars. and Not having direct Use of a Engine Lift i wanted to remove the front Valance and pull it out from the front.

I Interduce it to My Friend Ryobi. And Cut it off /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif
