Midget MkI Rear Wire Wheel Hub

I need a fine thread driver side wire wheel rear hub!

The front suspension for my '63 Midget is rebuilt so I've turned to rebuilding/cleaning the rear end...1st thing I find is that somewhere in its past, a PO replaced the driver side rear hub with a later model coarse thread hub...so, I have 3 fine thread hubs & 1 coarse thread.

So, out to my parts building I go only to find that all the Midget hubs I have are coarse thread....

HELP.....surely somebody has a good Midget MkI driver side, fine thread, rear wire wheel hub I can buy!

I certainly hope NOT, Tony!! You, of all people on BCF <u><span style="color: #990000">"should"</span></u> KNOW better!!! /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/hammer.gif /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/hammer.gif /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/hammer.gif

You know good and well that with ALL the work and $s you are putting into this project you <u><span style="color: #990000">NEED</span></u> NEW wheels AND extensions!! I would NOT drive that car ONE mile with what you are describing!!!

This <span style="color: #006600"><u>IS</u></span> a <span style="color: #009900"><u><span style='font-size: 14pt'>SAFETY</span></u></span> item!!!!

Get the new wheels, NEW extensions, NEW STEEL LocNuts in and take wheels up to Hendrix for tires/install/balance and install extensions & nuts!!

In case you have not had the opportunity (and I don't ever want to again) see a WW extension give up the ghost at 65 MPH, TRUST me you do NOT want to be driving a car (or be in one) when it occurs!!! /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/nonono.gif /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/nonono.gif

So true, Ed, if you're not certain of their condition...Just this afternoon, I've checked the front hubs & both rear hub extensions closely (even the coarse thread one) - everything's well within tolerance - actually, the coarse thread hub extension is the better of the 4...taking them to the machine shop tomorrow for magnafluxing..that'll tell the tale.

Do have new steel loc nuts & washers though; I never reuse them.

Unfortunately, the fine thread hubs & hub extensions aren't available & I don't want to go to coarse threads..
