Midget Metric Brake Lines?

I was told that the male ends of the Midget brake lines are Metric. (1976 if taht matters) I find that hard to believe knowing that the female ends are certainly not. Can anyone confirm or dispute this before I yank it out and check the threads?
 
I've never seen any that were metric... that I know of.

What is the source of this information, and which fittings are you referring to?
 
The male ends that thread into the Master Cylender and T-Blocks. I brought a small peice of an old line and the parts counter says it's certyainly metric. They Don't come any other way. I am sure he has very little knowledge outside that parts counter. Ill try a more reputable place later today.
 
3/8-24 I believe. on 3/16" line.
 
For the bubble flare to work you will need the fitting to have a lead shoulder on the fitting.

You might try a hydraulic shop for better info.

If you want to order online, then fedhill is a good source.
 
They are absolutely NOT metric. But, if you go to many parts counters, they will have only 3 types of 3/16 brake lines. They will have:
1) a standard US line double flare 3/8-24 nut. (nut usually cad plated gold)
2) a (usually) Japanese line double flare 10x1mm nut(usually purple colored nut)
3) a (usually) European line SINGLE flare 10x1mm nut (usually blue colored nut)

The parts guy then assumes that the single, or bubble flare example you showed him is metric because that's the only single or bubble flare line he has.

There is a 4th line available which is what you need. Single, or bubble flare with 3/8-24 nut.(usually red or pink colored nut) Try a different parts store. I can give you manufacturers and part numbers if you wish. Bundyflex or Everco or Weatherhead are your best bet. They all come in lengths 8, 12, 20, 30, 40, 51, and 60 inches.

and to make matters worse, 3/8-24 and 10x1 are rather close in size .37 to a .39 outer diameter and the pitch is almost the same. .041 to .039.

I know the place you went to that gave you that info...its called Competent Auto Parts Store NOT!

Peter is right of course.....it's all in the Weatherhead or Edelman parts catalog.
 
Thanks all. I was going for the whole prebent kit from classic tube. But 6 weeks out. Just dont have that kinda time. Not too much involved in doing it myself. I have a bluepoint bubble flare tool, borrowed from auto guy at work, I was tempted to buy some standard 3/16 lengths and re-use my old ends, Just cut the lengths I need.
 
If the old fittings were holding and easily removed, then I'd reuse them.
 
Yea, Actually all the lines are fine, But new paint on everything and evething is updated plus I will be racing it here and there so I think that may be my quickest solution. I've got about 2 cars worth of parts, so Im sure I can sort out enough good ones. All the fittings I took off so far "cracked" open nice and easy.
 
I bought two basic 72" 3/16 lines today for only $10. Cut my ends off and bent the two lines on the rear axle. Since I had one laying on the floor. Came out great! Is amazing when you have access to the right tools how proffesional the DIY stuff can come out. Only a few more to go.

And sure beats the price of them there Prebent kits. Not to mention the 6 weeks of anxiety.
