midget head

i am restoring a 71 midget and am having a little trouble with the cylinder head. i know this is not the original head and i'm not sure it is the right one. everything matches up, but the head has three more water ports than the block. the engine # is 12CJ/Da/H 42076 and the casting # on the head is MOWG 12G295. can any one tell me if this is the correct head for this engine. i had trouble finding valves and Hal at H.D. Rogers seemed to think this head is an early model but should fit. any suggestions?

So its a replacement head, why fret??Put in a set of big valves, do some porting and have fun!! Remember, valves are one thing where bigger is better, and it costs little more to get it.

thanks for the reply MD and i appreciate the encouragement. the problem is the extra ports are so close to the cylinders they leak coolant into them. do you know of a different gasket or can i somehow plug the ports? water can't flow any way because they meet up to solid block. could this cause overheating?
